To verify SNMP communication from the server to a device use the Poll Device tool:

Run the tool and enter the IP address and SNMP community string of the device:

Click “Submit” to check for communication with the device. If the device responds, you will see its system description in the status window.

  1. If it does not respond, you will see “No response received from the device”.
  2. If it does not respond, check to see if the device is configured to only respond to certain SNMP hosts
  3. Check if the device is behind a firewall that is preventing SNMP packets from flowing
  4. Is it a VLAN issue? Try moving it to another Subnet.
