When monitoring stack switches you only need to monitor 1 IP address for the entire stack.

This will avoid using unnecessary interfaces which will free them up for your other devices and you won’t be monitoring the same device with multiple IP addresses.

Note:

  • Certain device manufacturers may need to see the extra IP’s of each stack in order for the Call Path to query those devices and show the route that the packets take to the ending IP entered.
  • Some switch manufacturers do not provide proper MIB support for switches running in a stack configuration.
